Souls of Myrrage (2021)

I began work as an artist on the Souls of Myrrage team in the summer of 2020. I was contacted by the original lead and asked if I wanted to work on the project, and I immediately accepted because it sounded lots of fun to work on! I spent about nine months working on this project, from summer 2020, to early spring of 2021 and presented the game during the 2021 UCSC Games Showcase.  I was tasked with creating monster concepts, UI designs, and final box art shown on itch page.

[Cover Art] The red version of the Cover Art available on the itch page. I played with hues after finishing the black and white render of the image, and thought that red suited the aesthetic of the game well, due to the primary setting being a circus.

[Monster Concepts]Three different monster concepts for possible creatures we could add as enemies in game. The first is the added canine concept, the second is a creature that uses a cranial beam of light to navigate, and the third uses mirrors to travel.

[Notes] This is UI was originally for a secondary inventory system that is filled up over time as the player collects more and more information and notes. Now it is used as a Pause Screen for when the player needs to access the settings.

[Report] This document is named the Goldburg Safety Report and can be found by the player and acts as a key piece of evidence to make progress. It details the time period related to the documents the player picks up, and individuals related to the murder.

[Foreman's Journal] This is a handwritten note from a man named Robert Allan Thomas who was forced to brib the safety inspectors. It was really fun making the note seem hand written and real! I used a handwriting similar to my own for consistency.

[Craft UI] The main mechanic of Souls of Myrrage is crafting. Crafting certain materials is required to make progress, and all materials are designated by size, material, and weight.

[Snatcher Concept] This is monster concept art for a spider enemy that would be the final boss, but was later replaced with a clown asset also drawn by me. I was tasked with creating a large monster of any sort that would act as an obstacle to the player.
